Q1 2025 Product Updates:

From overlooked file sharing to missing backups, here’s how we’re making cybersecurity simpler, smarter, and more human.

For small teams, cybersecurity isn’t just a technical challenge — it’s a time challenge. A resource challenge. A how-do-we-even-get-started challenge.

That’s why every Lockwell feature we build is designed to remove friction, simplify security tasks, and give your team the power to protect itself — without needing a full-time IT department.

Here’s how we tackled some of the biggest security pain points this quarter.

Meet Elle – Your AI Cyber Defense Assistant

Security tools tend to flood you with alerts but stop short of providing real solutions. Small teams end up drowning in notifications — chasing vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and compliance tasks, with no time (or headcount) to stay ahead of the threats.

Elle, Lockwell's AI Cyber Defense Assistant changes that. Elle goes beyond detection to take direct action across your environment. Whether it's locking down access for a departing employee, scanning for malicious emails, securing vulnerable files, backing up your teams devices, or tracking down users who haven't closed issues, Elle steps in automatically — not just to tell you what's wrong, but to fix it.

From security operations to cyber posture management and compliance reporting, Elle has your back. She can generate compliance summaries for board meetings, help with third-party questionnaires, dig up audit log details across your team, or surface devices that are running outdated operating systems and missing patches. Need a list of current vulnerabilities in your organization? She's on it.

Elle is purpose-built for teams without dedicated security resources. She takes care of the heavy lifting so you can stay focused on running your business — not your security operations. And this is just the beginning!

If Elle hasn’t shown up in your dashboard just yet — don’t worry, she’s on the way! We’re rolling Elle out in phases to Lockwell customers to ensure a smooth, personalized experience for every team.

This approach lets us fine-tune the rollout, gather feedback, and make sure Elle is ready to serve you the moment she arrives. You’ll get a heads-up when she’s live in your account — and we can’t wait for you to meet her.

Device Backups

Losing a device can mean losing everything that was on it — especially if personal files aren’t being backed up consistently. For many small teams, there’s no formal backup system in place, which means one accident could set you back weeks.

Lockwell can now back up the files in your device’s home directory — including documents, downloads, desktop content, and more. While we don’t back up system files or applications, we do capture a list of installed apps so you can get back up and running faster.

If something goes wrong, you don’t have to start from scratch. You just recover and keep moving.

Note: Device backups are currently available on desktops and laptops only. Support for mobile devices is on our radar, but not live just yet.

Workspace Security

Google Drive makes sharing easy — and that’s part of the problem. Files can be shared too broadly, left public, or remain accessible to the wrong people long after a project ends. Without visibility into what’s exposed, those sharing mistakes can go unnoticed for months.

Lockwell now scans your organization’s Google Workspace for files with insecure permissions, flags risky ones in your dashboard, and helps you resolve them in a single click. No manual audits. No guesswork.

It’s a simple way to prevent accidental data leaks — and stay compliant with less effort.

Forensic Audit Logs

When something changes in your system — a device is disabled, a user is suspended, a VPN connection is made — it can be hard to trace what happened. That lack of visibility slows down investigations, makes audits harder, and adds stress during incidents.

Lockwell’s Forensics feature gives you a detailed audit trail that tracks who took an action, what it affected, and when it occurred. Logs are filterable, exportable, and accessible directly from your dashboard — giving you clear visibility when and where you need it most.

Here are just a few of the events we track:

  • VPN Connections

  • Routers connected to

  • Local device unlocks

  • Application installs and uninstalls

  • Lockwell logins

  • User activity: invited, activated, suspended, inactivated

  • Device actions: approved, disabled

  • SaaS login history (including “Sign in with Google” activity tied to your work account)

It’s built-in accountability, so nothing falls through the cracks.

Vendor Management

You rely on third-party vendors to do essential work — but most small teams don’t have a system in place to track those relationships. That can lead to gaps in documentation, unclear approval status, or missed compliance requirements.

Lockwell’s Vendor Management feature gives you a centralized place to add vendors, track their compliance, manage approvals, and upload key documents. You get better oversight, without needing to build your own process from scratch.

It’s a small feature with big impact — especially as your organization grows.

More Updates You Might’ve Missed
